Safety is our primary concern and overriding priority. All classes are taught by highly qualified instructors in a tightly controlled environment. Firearms are a serious matter and are dealt with seriously at Civil Advantage.

Safety Policies

  • Each new participant will qualify in the safety orientation to be admitted to shoot.
    • Orientations (or qualifications) will only have to be completed once.
    • This would be 20 minutes of range etiquette and movement safety.
    • Each course will start for new inductees 30 minutes early to perform the “one time” orientation.
  • Safety officers will observe all conduct at all times. Attendees committing infractions deemed not immediately dangerous will receive one warning with the next infraction resulting in removal from the range for the day and forfeiture of the day of training. Any attendee committing an infraction deemed dangerous will be removed from the range and forfeit the days training.

  • REFUNDS ARE NOT PROVIDED FOR REASON OF EXPULSION FROM THE RANGE

    • A shooter will never place their finger on the trigger or in the trigger guard unless they have acquired their target and it is safe to shoot.
    • A shooter will control the muzzle direction of his or her firearm at all times.
    • A shooter will not load a firearm while the line is occupied or persons are going forward.
    • A shooter may not load or maintain a loaded firearm while not on the line or in a ready position.
    • A shooter will not practice any movement with a firearm behind the line while facing persons on the line.
    • A shooter will obey all instructions issued by range safety officers and instructors at all times.
    • A shooter will always engage at the target(s) directly in front of them unless specifically instructed otherwise.
    • Any shooter may call a ceasefire at any time. All shooters must report any unsafe acts or conditions immediately.
    • If a shooter is commanded to disarm, that shooter will immediately lay his or her firearm on the ground with the muzzle direction facing down range and take two steps back.

  • PAL’s are required for all courses except Introduction to Firearms. PAL’s appropriate for the weapon systems being utilized are required. Handguns require Restricted etc. Inspection of PAL will be made on site before admission. Name, birth date and cert. number will be recorded. Picture will be visually matched with participant.
    • 2 references with name, phone and address will be provided in advance for each attendee.
    • References will be called to verify that attendee is not involved in any gang or otherwise illegal activity.

  • Waivers with expulsion acknowledgments will be signed before attending the line, no refund for expulsion.
  • A personal declaration will be signed stating, on behalf of the participant: “I am not currently or at any time in the past involved or affiliated with gangs, gang activity or a criminal organization”
  • Civil Advantage ALWAYS reserves the right to refuse service, admission or participation to ANYONE FOR ANY REASON. This is a result of the sensitive nature of our services, our concern for safety and our continuing commitment to train only law abiding citizens.

CA at the Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show

The BC Outdoors show was a great experience for us. We were very well received and I thoroughly enjoyed talking with the literally hundreds of interested people over both days. I also want to enthusiastically thank Ann-Marie for helping me out at the booth as well, I couldn't have done it without her! Our business is very unique in Canada and it has been an exciting journey bringing it to Canadians. Our advocacy of legal, civilian firearms ownership and "safety through training" is starting to have an impact on our community. We are proud to participate in this effort and represent the firearms community in this positive way. Thanks to all for your support.

March 1st, The Word on Urban Survival
Another First From CA!!!

Thoughts on the Course

The Urban Survival Seminar was a first for Civil Advantage, and certainly a first for BC in it's content. 200 hrs of research and 80 hrs of organizational work went into the seminar and I believe it showed. At first, I was a little reluctant to drop the full weight of reality on people who might attend this seminar. Luckily, our group was a hearty one and no one panicked at the material or the context. Medium term survival (7 days to 6 months) is not a glamorous subject, but the likelihood is real. In fact, it becomes more real every day.

Proving that the glass is half full, if such changes were to occur, there would be people who suffer and there would be those that would thrive. Those who can thrive in this new environment will be the people who will have a place in a renewed society. I guess you would call them the strong. I have focused this seminar to be useful for the majority. These strategies do not require six-figure salaries to implement or expansive acreage to be successful. It is a strategy "for the rest of us" who desire to be the figure in our families that "have a plan".

I would like to thank the people who came out on a beautiful Sunday during the Olympic Games and took part. I appreciate their comments and encouragement. I am very proud of this course and of the security and confidence it will inspire in those that can share it.

Rod.

More feedback from our customers…
What they had to say...

We have received some glowing reviews on our courses on www.canaidiangunnutz.com under the title "new training opportunity". There are pictures of the last course posted there too. The most sincere thanks to those who are supporting what we are doing.

Previous, and still very a relevant thought…. After some discussions with our first registrants, our decision to teach and encourage participation with .22 calibre firearms is on the mark. It’s difficult to show up for all the other courses around with a .22 when everyone’s shooting a .223. It’s even harder to afford great training when you’re spending all your money on ammunition. Our message has been one of practicality and economics. The .22 shooter can attend twice the number of courses when they don’t have to worry about the pressure to look combat relevant. Training is improving, not posing. Thanks for all the great comments!!
